dear sam,
6 months ago today you and i were very busy. and very tired. considering you up all night (teething?) we are still very tired. however, i would not trade any of the last 6 months for anything. you are our joy. your smiles make everyone in the house smile. your giggles make us all giggle. your cries make everyone sad.
you are very busy these days shoving everything in your mouth. every baby grabs things and put them in their mouths. but you, you are a bit ferocious about it. you attack things with your mouth. you have spilled lots of mommy's dinners and various drinks because you are so quick (and mommy is so slow)!
you love to have someone talk to you, watch carly and leo, pet hunter, play with your toys, pull mommy's hair, when daddy kisses your bare tummy and legs, when daddy sniffs your feet and says pee-eew, snuggly blankets, when mommy gets home from work and the bar is open for the evening, your nuk, your blue fuzzy puppy, to sleep with mommy, to nap in your swing, sweet potatoes, your jumperoo, to look around at new places.
you hate to have your face washed, baby cereal, when mommy hands you off to daddy in the evenings(just so i can go to the bathroom!), to be left alone in a room, when leo jumps on the couch when i am trying to feed you, to have your head bumped, when a hat slips down over your eyes, to have a shirt pulled over your head, when mommy picks at your nose, your ears, or anywhere!
The things you are doing now:
- screeching (LOUDLY)
- giggles and belly laughs (the best belly laughs in the whole world
- rolling over (both ways, but so far just once at a time)
- sitting up, which you think is the best thing ever
- eating food, which sometimes you love and sometimes you don't really care for
- purposely kicking all the bottles of lotion and stain remover i have at the end of your changing table every time i change your diaper
- play where's sam - where your bury your face against me and i say "where's sam" and you throw yourself back with a huge smile on your face
- put your arms up when we go to pick you up, turn away when you don't want someone to take you
- teething
carly and leo adore you and have been such big helpers, fetching bibs and burp rags, helping with bath time and picking out your clothes. it will be fun to watch them with you as you start moving around more (and getting into their stuff):)
happy 6 months sam! i love you so much and can hardly believe you grew from a tiny little newborn into such a chubby baby in such a short time!
